Day 1: Arrive to Lima

Your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals terminal to transport you to your hotel located Miraflores, an upscale residential and shopping district, located south of downtown Lima. Miraflores is a main tourist attraction in Lima, and is bursting with excellent restaurants featuring Peruvian cuisine. Enjoy a delicious Peruvian ceviche for lunch at La Mar, or experience Peruvian fusion at its best at Madam Tusan, a restaurant by the famous Peruvian chef, Gaston Acurio. Overnight in Casa Andina Classic, Lima. Meals: none.

Day 2: Miraflores and afternoon flight to Cusco

After enjoying a delicious breakfast in your hotel, you have the morning free to further explore Miraflores. Take a stroll through Kennedy Park, located in the heart of Miraflores, or, if you are feeling energetic, take a walk down to the “Parque del Amor” (Park of Love) and the beach. Your 1 hour flight to Cusco will depart in the afternoon (advise us of your preferred time when booking), and a driver will collect you from the hotel in Miraflores in order to arrive on time for the flight. Arriving to Cusco you will be taken to your centrally located hotel. Overnight in Casa Andina Classic, Cusco. Meals: breakfast.

Day 3: Cusco

After enjoying breakfast in your hotel, you will have the whole day free to explore this beautiful city. As your hotel is located right in the heart of the city, much exploring can be done on foot. Visit the main square (Plaza de Armas) and explore the surrounding cobblestone streets. The architecture is a fascinating mixture of pre-colonial stonemasonry and colonial buildings. There are many high quality restaurants in Cusco. We recommend Pachapapa: a fantastic restaurant concocting traditional Peruvian dishes with a gourmet flair; Marcelo Batata: a chic and tasty place to enjoy excellent food and cocktails; and many more wonderful places. Ask us for more recommendations, or explore on your own! Overnight in Casa Andina Classic, Cusco. Meals: breakfast.

Day 3 optional add-on: Half day city tour or full day Sacred Valley tour.

Day 4: Train to Aguas Calientes

Early this morning you will enjoy breakfast in your hotel before your driver arrives to take you to the train station in Poroy (about 20 minutes from Cusco). Your train to Aguas Calientes will pass through the Sacred Valley, following the Urubamba river and winding between mountains as you descend over 1000 meters to Aguas Calientes, located in the cloud forest (approximately 3.5 hour trip). You will be met at the train station and brought to your hotel. The rest of the day can be spent exploring Aguas Calientes, including the many restaurants, beautiful exotic scenery, local museum and hot springs. Overnight in Casa Andina Classic, Aguas Calientes. Meals: breakfast.

Day 5: Machu Picchu

After breakfast you will make your way to the bus station and board a bus that climbs the mountain to Machu Picchu (20 minute drive). The first bus departs at 5:00am, but there are buses running continually through the day. You will have a guided group tour of the citadel to become oriented with the layout of the ancient city and some of its astounding features. You will then have the option to continue exploring at your own pace, and return to Aguas Calientes by bus in the early afternoon. Your train from Aguas Calientes – Poroy will depart at approximately 4:30pm (arriving 8:30pm), and a driver will return you to your hotel upon arrival. Overnight in Casa Andina Classic, Cusco. Meals: breakfast.
